Situated in a protected landscape area on the shore of one of the largest natural lakes in France, Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu wines are beautifully fresh with well-rounded aromas featuring notes of white flowers.

For the 14th year of Vignes Vins Randos, the Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu appellation has devised a trail leading through vineyards and woodland along the Boulogne, the appellation’s iconic river. Join us first at the VVR village, set in the splendid courtyard of Château de la Grange in Corcoué-sur-Logne.

Itinerary:
  1. Soon after leaving the Château you will find yourself surrounded by sweeping vineyards planted with a host of different grape varieties and with superb views over Château de la Touche. Your first stop is in the midst of these vines, where a Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu 2016 will be served alongside a selection of local food specialities.

  2. The trail continues along the banks of the Boulogne, which flows into the Lac de Grandlieu. The river leads us to Moulin Graveau - a watermill set in an area of natural beauty, where you can relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings.   This is where you will make your second stop, to taste a vintage Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu paired with cheese. You will also have a chance to find out a little about this water mill, which has been in operation for a very long time.

  3. Heading back to the vines, you cross the little village of Plessis. The trail continues through the countryside where we find vineyards recently planted along the hilltops. These are the setting for your third and final stop. Enjoy a glass of gros-plant de Nantes served with oysters, and take a moment to admire the stunning views over Nantes. But a word of warning - according to local lore, if you can see the Tour Bretagne - expect an imminent downpour!

  4. You will then return to the grounds of Château de la Grange and cross the woodland to finish our trail.  As you leave the forest, stop to take a closer look at this château, dating from the 15th century.  It has been destroyed many times - either as a result of holy wars or demolished by its owners - and rebuilt 4 times, each time in a different style. Only the original cellars remain to prove the age of the structure.

Back in the village, join in with a wine tasting organised by various producers. A food truck will be on hand selling sweet and savoury crêpes; or you may prefer to purchase a platter of oysters from a local oyster farmer, either to enjoy on site or to take away. The wines you sampled during today’s walk will be available to buy, and to complete the day there will be live music. Altogether a fun, friendly atmosphere.

Picnic space is available.
