In the heart of a royal land, dominated by the medieval stronghold, Chinon and its surrounding areas offer an exceptional cultural, historic and oenological heritage. Chinon’ s wine, an historic cru of Loire, propose a wide range of red wines

At few minutes from Chinon, in the middle of the Parc naturel regional Loire-Anjou- Touraine, Vignes Vins Randos proposes this year a walk through vines, fields and undergrowth which offers you panoramic  views on the royal stronghold of Chinon and the Vienne valley.

Itinerary: 
  1. After crossing the little historic village named Les Roches Saint Paul, you arrive at your first stop. Enjoy the gorgeous landscape with its clear view on Les Roches Saint Paul. Follow guide’s explanations about the “tuffeau” stones, typical of Chinon’s areas. And, taste some fish appetizers, a perfect pairing with a chinon white wine.
  2. Follow your trail until your second stop on the Plateau des Cornuelles, a recognized domain for its production of cabernet franc. Let yourself be taken away by Rabelais life’s stories and taste an historic wine of the appellation with the traditional goat cheese.
  3. Walk through wineyards until the Domain Brocourt. The cellar, located in a troglodyte cave, offers a pleasantly cool environment and is an opportunity to learn more about this iconic local features. A selection of wines and local specialities will be available to taste.  
  4. The final stop is a recent, highly unusual plantation of truffle oaks in a truffière. Learn about this method of production as you admire fine views of the majestic Royal Fortress of Chinon and the Vienne River.   Enjoy a glass of a mysterious vintage chinon wine that winemakers have carefully selected for you.
Return to the VVR village, located in Ligré’s former grain depot, where refreshments will be available, served amidst unique natural landscapes. Let yourself be transported by the music and the beauty of nature, and enjoy a moment of pure pleasure in this historic location.  Food truck with fouée, the local speciality bread and games for children are attending.
Wines will be offered for sale, along with local speciality food products.
