The Coteaux du Vendômois are located in a region which gives a micro climate conducive to the cultivation of the vine. The Chenin and Pinot Aunis grapes, which are particularly fond of these terroirs, give the wines a very original typicity.

This year, the appellation Coteaux-du-vendômois joins Vignes Vins Randos and offers a hike in a privileged natural setting, which includes vines and biodiversity, 70 km south of Le Mans. The winemakers take you to discover this little appellation that is worth seeing, explaining the history of its vineyard and tasting some of its wines.

Itinerary :

1.       You start your ride from the old train station which now houses the observatory of wines. Nothing better to warm up than to climb towards the vines, through Quatrevault wood. In the shelter of a vine hut, your first stop allows you to taste a Vendome wine with homemade bites.

2.       Continue your walk on trails between vineyards and grove. This is an opportunity to discover the great wine plateau of Vendômois but also the nature in all its beauty, without any visual pollution. Around a glass and culinary specialties, wine growers explain the impact of climate change and the use of weather stations.

3.       You continue your walk in the vineyards and you see the church of the eighteenth century. You will follow the troglodyte cellars of the village before climbing to Saint-Denis church where your third break awaits you with a unique view of the village and the castle. You will enjoy wines of the appellation with homemade bites. Finally, it is time to return to the wine trails and return to the VVR village.

At the end of your walk, all the winemakers welcome you to the VVR village. A group of music animates the village and you can enjoy with the products of local producers, and a foodtruck. Wine tasted during the hike will be available for sale and children will enjoy the wooden games.
A one-hour horse-drawn carriage ride is offered from the village VVR. Two departures will be made in the morning: at 9:15 and 11am.

Picnics are allowed.

Vineyard School: Before leaving or returning from your walk, participate in a tasting class with a professional sommelier. On the VVR village, after an hour of workshop, the wines of the Loire Valley will have no secrets for you! Accessibility to the workshop is strictly reserved for participants of Vines Randos Wine. Book your seats when registering for your hike (15 € per adult).
